I had very little knowledge or understanding of Manaiakalani so found the introductory session very interesting. Manaiakalani - 'The hook from heaven'. Very interested in the journey of schools in the Manaiakalani programme - origins in East Auckland over a period of time from 2006. Am starting to understand the 'share' part of the programme. As a relative novice in my digital journey, there have been a number of barriers that exist around privacy and accessibility in this global space so appreciated the simplicity of explanation that is at the pedagogy of Manaiakalani 'Learn, create, share'. I particularly enjoyed learning about google groups and little tricks within google drive. Really practical and useful tools to use both inside and out of the classroom. Only just starting to explore some of the capabilities of these tools. All in all lots of new learning, heaps to take and put into practice, but to start with will organise my google drive. Ending with this blog was probably the biggest technical challenge for me.
Kia ora Christine, how exciting to read about your first day at DFI. I loved DFI when I did it last year and I learnt so much! I like that way you reflected on what you covered today and how it has added to your understanding of the kaupapa of The Manaiakalani Programme. I think all of us could do with a bit of Drive tidying up. When I read your bit I immediately thought of what my files and folders look like. Like all housekeeping, we procrastinate and it grows legs of its own and becomes a huge mission. Blogging can be a challenge when it is new and I hope you see the value in it as a reflection tool and to share your thinking. Without these blogs I wouldn't have been able to read about your day and comment on your learning. I hope you enjoy this part of DFI and how valuable it is as a professional log. Mā te wā Cheryl
It was a pleasure to share our story with you and I thank you for your comments here. Coming to grips with 'Share' is a challenge for many and I hope as the weeks unfold you will understand the 'why' and let us know your thoughts as you progressively re-evaluate.
